We are not far from the local village of Invermoriston situated 2 miles north from the campsite and with Fort Augustus only a further 4 miles south of us, where you can find in either direction local shops, petrol station, post office, pubs, restaurants, gift shops and a few fish & chip take away's.
Also nearby is the Caledonia Canal and Locks based in Fort Augustus perfect for a bit of boat watching as they descend through the Locks to set sail on to Loch Ness.
There are also many operators running various cruises on Loch Ness for a bit of Nessie hunting, and Urquhart Castle is only a 30 minutes drive from us.
With scenic mountain views from all areas of the campsite, the forest and the burn (stream) which runs alongside us, it really does make Inver Coille a truly tranquil, natural and a beautiful holiday location. A perfect spot to pitch your tent, take a break and rest your well-travelled feet or paws. Our location offers that intimate of atmospheres, as you nestle in amongst the trees and mountains making it a perfect family, walkers or cyclist's idyll, whether you decide to camp here for one night or more!! The clear night skies and stars are also breathtakingly stunning with no light interference, you really can feel the highland remoteness from the moment you arrive.
Our site is complete with shower block which we keep spotlessly clean, drinking water and an enclosed sheltered area for washing up. We're never short of water, given that it's filtered from our own burn (stream) on site! We also have what we tend to think of as the 'Highlands Smallest Shop' where you can buy a selection of food, drink, toiletries and other essentials, such as logs for building a campfire and marshmallows for toasting in the flames and even an 'Inver Coille' postcard to send to your family and friends.
The view from the Great Glen Way, the white spec is our roof!
Inver Coille pronounced 'Inver Coya' click the button above to hear its pronunciation in Gaelic the 'Coille' part also means forest in Scottish Gaelic. It is the forest which surrounds our family-run campsite with the added benefit of a forestry path linking us directly to the Great Glen Way for everyone to enjoy.
The Great Glen Way is a hiking & cycling route which starts in Fort William and ends in Inverness, running the length of the 'Great Glen'. Why not take a short evening stroll up from the campsite in either direction on the 'Great Glen Way' for the far reaching and stunning views over the very famous Loch Ness, its also handy for a convenient on-site dog walk too. We are a dog-friendly campsite (with our own dogs too) so it's as handy for you as it is for us, as we enjoy making furry and human friendships too.
